Employee Mobility and Retention: Engaging staff from abroad, and through equity

Start-up and scale-up companies setting up their business in the Netherlands often face difficulties obtaining visas for non-EU nationals. They would typically prefer to use the Knowledge Migrant scheme, but the conditions of this scheme (e.g., the high salary threshold for employees) are often difficult to meet these types of companies. The Dutch government has acknowledged this, and now intends to relax the rules for start-ups and scale-ups by introducing a new pilot procedure specifically intended for these companies. The new rules tie in with a broader Government initiative to establish tax incentives for equity-based compensation of employees at start-up and scale-up companies.

During this morning session Don-Tobias Jol and Ilya Hoekerd will be elaborating on the ways the Dutch government is creating an attractive environment for start- and scale-ups in the Netherlands!
